Do you work somewhere beautiful? Is your site too amazing to keep to yourself? Do you have an eye for steam? The GRC is looking for your pictures of geothermal energy: areas of geological interest, well testing, drilling, geothermal equipment, power plants, EGS, direct use, and geothermal heat pumps.

As part of the GRC Annual Meeting in Sacramento, California, USA, the GRC will hold its 37th Amateur Photo Contest. The purpose of the contest is to showcase quality photography featuring geothermal energy and to augment the GRC’s photo library. Only amateur photographers are eligible to participate.
Photographs on any subject related to geothermal energy including geothermal energy production, EGS, Direct Use and geothermal heat pumps can be submitted. This includes photos in the areas of well testing, drilling, operation of geothermal equipment, newly developed equipment, or plant operation, construction of a geothermal plant or plant site and geological areas or manifestations that hold potential for geothermal exploration or development.
Either black & white or color photos taken by the entrant are acceptable.
The photos must be submitted in a digital jpeg format. Photos taken with a digital camera are acceptable. Photos taken with a film camera can be converted to digital and put on a CD at stores that have a photo processing department. Entries should be emailed to email@example.com with “Photo Contest” in the subject line, or mailed as a CD to the GRC. If you submit your photos by email, please make sure the total files are under 10MB. The winning entries will be displayed in PowerPoint format before the Opening Session and displayed during the GRC Annual Meeting.
All photographs will be judged on their Industry portrayal, impact, relevance, composition and technical quality.
Submissions and Deadline
Use the GRC Photography Contest entry form to submit your photograph(s). Up to three entries may be submitted. Each submission MUST be accompanied by a completed entry form. Forms must include the photo title, a description of the subject matter and location, names of people in the photo if they are part of the picture, date picture was taken, and a signature authorizing the release of the photo for inclusion in the GRC Photographic Library. The photographer’s name, company, address, email and telephone number must also be provided.
Awards will be presented to winners at the GRC Annual Member Meeting and Awards Luncheon. First Place will receive $150, Second Place ‐ $100, and Third Place ‐ $75. Honorable Mention photos will receive certificates. The award checks will be drawn on a US bank.

This form must accompany all entries submitted to the Geothermal Resources Council’s Amateur Photography Contest. All entries must be received by the GRC office by September 16. All entries must be submitted in electronic format as a jpeg. A CD can be mailed to GRC Photo Contest, 630 Pena Drive, Suite 400, Davis, California, 95618 or attachments emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Photo Contest” in the subject line. Please put your name and entry number as the file name, (e.g., John Doe = jdoe1. jpeg). Only three photos total.

The GRC wants YOU to be a judge in the 37th Annual Geothermal Amateur Photography Contest.
Judges will review photo submissions and use a rubric to score photos based on Industry Portrayal, Impact, Relevance, Composition, and Technical Quality.
Judges with appropriate qualifications and from diverse backgrounds will be selected. PLEASE NOTE: Judges will NOT be allowed to enter their own photos in the contest!

In total, 52 photos were entered in the 36th Annual Geothermal Amateur Photography Contest where they are judged for impact, relevance, composition and technical quality. GRC appreciates the creativity and quality of all contest submissions.
The winners were honored at the GRC Annual Member Meeting and Awards Luncheon, the climax to the 39th GRC Annual Meeting & GEA Geothermal Energy Expo held at the Peppermill Resort Spa, Reno, Nevada, USA from September 20-23, 2015.
The first place winner received $150, second place - $100, and third place - $75. Honorable Mention photos received certificates.
